After receiving an honorable discharge from the United States Navy, Merrill began his civilian career in the nuclear industry obtaining a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Radiological Health Physics.  After completing his law degree and being admitted to practice law in Massachusetts in 1996 Merrill became the Assistant General Counsel for Yankee Atomic Electric Company and Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company, handling all of the companies’ legal matters.  Merrill joined the law firm of Day Pitney in 2006 working in the estate planning practice area.  Merrill obtained a Master’s degree in Estate Planning and Elder Law in 2008 and opened his own practice in Sutton, Massachusetts in 2009.  

In additional to his professional affiliations, Merrill is an active member of the American Legion Post 414 in Sutton, MA and is the American Legion District 4 Assistant Judge Advocate, where he volunteers his time assisting the American Legion with legal matters. Merrill is also an active member of the Millbury Lions Club and volunteers his time to assist the sight and hearing impaired.
